Children's Yoga

Isha Yoga for Children offers a unique possibility for every child to experience a joyful blossoming of their natural potential. Isha Yoga celebrates the natural gifts within every child, including wonder and a sense of oneness with life.This includes the following practices. These practices are taught in various modules depending upon time availability. Ages 4-13.

Upa Yoga: Upa-yoga is a simple yet powerful system of exercise that activates the joints, muscles, and energy system. Based on a sophisticated understanding of the body’s mechanics, Upa-yoga dispels inertia in the body’s energy and brings ease to the whole system. It relieves physical stress and tiredness.

Surya Shakti: "Surya" means "Sun,"and "Shakti" means "energy". Surya Shakti is an dynamic form of the Sun Salutation which is an ancient yogic practice with a powerful sequence of 18 postures.

Yoga Namaskar: Yoga Namaskar is a very simple and complete process by itself that nurtures the physical, psychological and energy dimensions of a human being. It activates the lumbar region of the spine in a tremendous way.Strengthens the muscles along the spine giving it a reinforcement so that as one ages, the collapsing of the spine which causes pinching of the nerves does not happen.It is the best way to regenerate the spine.

Thoppukarnam: By doing this, everything in your brain gets activated.They have given the name 'brain yoga' to this because it brings neurological alertness. Brings balance between right and left brain.Enhances thinking capacity, concentration and memory, releases tension and brings ease and helps with mild depression and anxiety. It is beneficial for children especially those with disabilities like autism, dyslexia, ADD, adults with Alzheimer's etc

Angamardana: Angamardana, a fitness system rooted in yoga, offers everyone the opportunity to invigorate the body and reach peak physical and mental health. “Angamardana” means gaining complete mastery over the limbs, organs, and other parts of the body. True to its name, this practice revitalizes the body on all levels including the muscles, circulatory system, skeletal structure, nervous system, and the basic energy system.

Nadi Shuddhi Pranayam: A Yogic practice that cleanses the nadis – the pathways through which prana (vital energy) flows – resulting in a balanced system and psychological wellbeing. Nadi Shuddhi relieves anxiety, stress and psychological tension, brings balance to your thoughts, activities and emotions and also brings a deep sense of peace throughout the day.

Mantra Yoga: Includes AUM chanting and initiation. This helps stabilize the body and mind, helps come out of psychological disturbances, relieves from excessive fear, nightmares, unstable mind, remedies attention disorders and helps bring resolve in life.

Participants of Isha Yoga Children's programs often experience enhanced concentration and memory, more focus, and improved mind-body coordination. The practices learnt help prevent obesity, asthma, sinusitis and other chronic ailments.
